Argentine midfielder Javier Pastore made a permanent move from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain to Serie A outfit Roma, both clubs announced on Tuesday.

Pastore, 29, joined Roma for a fee of 24.7 million euros and has signed a five-year contract with the club that runs until June 30, 2023.

"I am very happy to be here at Roma," said Pastore, who made his return to the Italian league after having played for Palermo for two seasons between 2009 and 2011.

"It is great to return to Italy, and to do it with such a great club," he added. "I hope to repay in full all the enthusiasm, support and affection that Roma fans have shown me already."

Pastore has been the first star signing of PSG since Qatari Sports Investment had the majority of shares of the club in 2011.

He made 269 appearances in all competitions for PSG, scoring 45 goals and providing 56 assists, winning Ligue 1 five times, French Cup four times, and both French Super Cup and French League Cup five times.

"I will never forget the strong bonds that tie Javier Pastore, our first major international signing, to all those who love our club," declared Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO.

"Since his debut wearing our jersey, Javier's superb technique and visionary passes enchanted the Parc des Princes, who have always reserved a special place in its heart for the most elegant of players.

"Javier will remain one of those players that shaped the identity of our team, our club, our project, both on a national and international level. He will always hold a special place in Paris Saint-Germain family.

"On behalf of the entire club, I wish Javier a most successful and fulfilling return to Italy," said Al-Khelaifi.

Pastore, the eighth signing of the summer of Roma, will wear the No. 27 shirt.

He had 29 international caps for Argentina, scoring two goals.
