Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho appears to have started the 'mind games' against Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp just over two weeks before the start of the new Premier League season.

Last week's signing of Roma's Brazilian goalkeeper, Alisson means Liverpool have now signed Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri this summer at a total cost of almost 200 million Euros.

Speaking after his side defeated AC Milan in a penalty shootout during their US tour on Wednesday night, Mourinho remembered how Klopp once criticized Manchester United for spending around 100 million euros on Paul Pogba.

"I think if you have the money, if you invest well, it is better than to have it in the bank. Because the interest rates are very low," said Mourinho.

The Manchester United boss said he thought Liverpool had "done very well" in the transfer market, "because every player they have bought are [sic] quality players."

However, he also used his words to heap pressure on the side that lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid last season. He said he "could not see anyone" spending as much money as Liverpool have this summer.

"A team that was a finalist in the Champions League, you have to say you are a big candidate, you have to win," commented Mourinho.

Liverpool and Manchester United will renew their historic rivalry in the Michigan Stadium on Sunday in the International Champions Cup.
