Chinese first seed Zhang Shuai lost out to compatriot Zhu Lin 6-7(3), 6-4, 1-6, failing to move into the semifinals of the 2018 WTA Jiangxi Open here on Friday.

Zhang lost the first set due to consecutive faults. She fought back in the second set and won it 6-4. In the deciding third set, although injured during the match, Zhu still scored an easy win to secure her final victory.

Chinese second seed Wang Qiang had a 6-3, 6-0 win over compatriot Liu Fangzhou. Wang took control and extended her advantage to seal her victory in 61 minutes.

Polish third seed Magda Linette upset Chinese Taipei's Liang Enshuo 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 to set up a meeting with Wang in the semifinals.
