The Chinese soccer team booked a landslide 6-0 victory over Timor Leste in the opening match of the 2018 Asian Games Group C match at the Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung regency on Tuesday.

China's six goals against Timor Leste were scored by Zhang Yuning in the 3rd and 47th minutes, Zhang Yuan in the 15th minute, Gao Zhunyi in the 26th minute, Wei Shihao in the 33rd minute and Yao Junsheng in the 36th minute.

China suppressed Timor Leste immediately after the referee blew the opening whistle. He Chao and teammates demonstrated the high-tempo game by piercing the heart of the opponent's defense through long passes.

China continued to dominate the game throughout the first half.

Having the benefit of superior body posture, the Chinese players maximized the attack through long passes. Three of the five goals in the first half came from headers.

China's first goal was scored by Zhang Yuning in the third minute with a header. Twelve minutes later, China added an advantage through Zhang Yuan.

Scoring two goals did not make Massimiliano Maddaloni's players reduce their intensity. In fact, they continued to confine the defense of Timor Leste.

Timor Leste, on the other hand, found it difficult to penetrate China's defenses. They obviously only relied on counterattacks to maximize the speed of striker Cruz Martins.

But their attacks were easily broken by the Chinese. Even the East Timorese players seemed confused and repeatedly committed fundamental mistakes.

Gao Zhunyi again brought China to widen the distance after his header managed to tear Silva Pereira's goal upon crossing from Zhang Yuning. China was up 3-0.

Before the first half ended, China added two goals through Wei Shihao and a long-range shot through Yao Junsheng. The 5-0 score lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, China did not reduce the tempo of the game. The result was proven, two minutes after the second half began, and China returned to winning 6-0 through Zhang Yuning.

Consciously suppressed, East Timor coach Norio Tsukikate brought in Rufino Walter Gama and Silva Garcia to catch up.

The Chinese players lowered the tempo of the game after scoring six goals. But the East Timorese could not benefit from the slower pace set by the Chinese as they could only fire one attempted shot at China's goal.

Until the referee blew the closing whistle, the 6-0 score for China's victory did not change.

China's lineup: Chen Wei, Liu Yang, Gao Zhunyi, Yao Junsheng, Wei Shihao, He Chao (C), Zhang Yuning, Chen Binbin, Zhang Yuan, Liu Yiming, Deng Hanwen.
