Hoffenheim and Andrej Kramaric have agreed on a contract extension ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

The Croatian international extended his current contract, set to expire in June 2020, for another two years to stay with the "Kraichgauer" until summer 2022.

"Being able to keep a player of this calibre shows how much the status of Hoffenheim has increased. Andrej has proved himself as a World Cup finalist with Croatia," Hoffenheim's sporting director Alexander Rosen said.

Kramaric joined Hoffenheim from Premier League outfit Leicester City in January 2016. He made 83 league appearances and provided 33 goals and 20 assists. Since 2014, the striker has been part of Croatia's national team where he scored 10 goals in 36 matches.

"My performances are also an expression of my well-being. This club has seen breathtaking development over the last two and a half years since I've been here. Here, a lot fits together perfectly and I feel very welcome," Kramaric said.

Hoffenheim face defending champions Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga season opener on August 24.
