Hannover's Niclas Fuellkrug has penned a contract extension ahead of schedule, the Bundesliga side announced on Friday.
The 25-year-old striker agreed to terms of a two-year contract extension and will stay until June 2022.
"Niclas has staged strong performances in the past Bundesliga season. He had the chance to agree on a transfer but he opted to stay in Hannover," sporting director Horst Heldt said.
Fuellkrug joined the "Reds" in the summer 2016 and made 63 league appearances, providing seven assists and 19 goals since his arrival.
"Hannover is my home town. Everyone knows that I love this city. I feel at home in our team and in the club," Fuellkrug said.
After the international break, Hannover travel to Leipzig for the third round in Bundesliga on Sept. 15.
