Wang Jianjiahe biggest winner at China National Swimming Championships

16-year-old Wang Jianjiahe scooped her fourth gold medal of the Chinese National Swimming Championships on Wednesday, coming home first in the women's 800m freestyle event.

Wang, who also won gold in the 100, 200 and 400m freestyle events, continued her one-woman show in the 800m and clocked a time of 8:29.04. Zhang Ke came second in 8:32.69, with Bi Wenxin finishing third in a time of 8:33.73.

"I am satisfied with my results and my overall performance at the meet. I wanted to take this competition as a training exercise to test myself. I think I did a great job," smiled Wang, who lowered the 400m freestyle short course world record at the FINA Swimming World Cup in Budapest on October 4.

Elsewhere in the women's events, Wu Qingfeng and Wu Yue secured a one-two finish for Zhejiang in the women's 50m freestyle, clocking times of 25.45 and 25.58 respectively, Zhou Min won the 400m individual medley in 4:45.34, and Beijing dominated the 4x100m medley relay.

In the men's section, Yu Hexin stormed to first place in the 50m freestyle in 22.67, Qin Haiyang took the 200m breaststroke title in 2:09.65, Yu Yingbiao won the 400m freestyle with a time of 3:53.03, and Zhejiang sealed victory in the medley relay.

A total of 666 swimmers took part in the five-day Chinese national swimming meet.
