Premier League strugglers, Fulham have sacked coach Slavisa Jokanovic and replaced him with Claudio Ranieri.

The move means a rapid return to football for the Italian, who led Leicester City to their incredible Premier League title in 2016, and who left Nantes by 'mutual consent' at the end of last season.

Jokanovic, who led Fulham to promotion from the Championship last season, lost his job after his side has struggled to adapt to the top flight and have taken just five points from 12 games.

Fulham owner Shahid Khan said Ranieri was "risk-free and ready-made for the Premier League, and particularly so for what we need at this moment at Fulham."

Khan praised Ranieri's "body of work with Leicester City" and called the Italian "an extraordinary football man."

Ranieri has signed a 'multi-year contract' and commented that the aim at his new club "should never be to merely survive in the Premier League."

The Italian has also coached Valencia, Chelsea and Atletico Madrid among others. Ranieri's first game in charge will be against fellow strugglers, Southampton at Craven Cottage. Enditem
