Justin Hamilton scored 29 points and Zhu Yanxi added 15 as Beijing beat Shanxi 107-96 in the 23rd round of the 2018-2019 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league on Saturday night.
Visiting Beijing took a 9-0 run that produced a 10-point lead after a slow start in the first quarter. After Yuan Shuai hit a jumper from beyond the arc for Shanxi, Aaron Jackson answered another 3-pointer to help Beijing take the lead with 26-19 into the second.
Beijing led 30-23 and pushed its lead out to 15 early in the second, but couldn't continue the run. Shanxi was within five by halftime, a run sparked by Shabazz Muhammad, who got 20 points in the first half.
Local shooter Zhu Yanxi found his hot hands in the third quarter, he made five 3-point baskets while Beijing still had control of the game. Justin Hamilton scored on a drive before the buzzer to put Beijing up 85-69.
Beijing surpassed the century mark on a layup for a 101-87 lead by Duan Jiangpeng, the former Shanxi guard, and won over Shanxi with 107-96.
Hamilton scored a team-high 29 points and Zhu Yanxi added 15 to lead five players in double figures for Beijing. Muhammad got 30 points, but Bobby Brown was 2 for 10 on 3-point attempts.
While things were going well for Aolong, struggling Shandong lost its sixth straight game with 113-100 and for the eight in nine of late. Guard Pierre Jackson got a game-high 41 points for Aolong. Miroslav Radulica scored 31 points as Jiangsu moved past Bayi 100-85.
