League of Legends Pro League (LPL)'s veteran team Invictus Gaming (IG) routed the formidable rising star Topsports Gaming (TOP) 3-1 to win the Demacia Cup 2018 Winter yesterday in Xi'an, capital of northwest China's Shaanxi province.

The sweeping victory once again proved IG's indomitable position as the champion of LOL Season 8, concluded last month in South Korea.

Rising from obscurity, TOP defeated all top-ranking LPL teams, including Royal Never Give Up (RNG), Edward Gaming (EDG) and IG during the competition's early rounds. Even in the final, its aggressive group attacks and teamwork tactics helped the team secure a victory against IG in the first round within 30 minutes.

During the second round, however, IG showed great resilience in seesaw battles, fighting back ferociously, especially at the ancient dragon pit where they slew four of the TOP heroes to narrowly escape a second loss. That hard-fought success proved a turning point for the S8 champion to destroy the dark horse's seeming invincibility throughout the Demacia tournament.

In the third round, IG's Attack Damage Carry (ADC) Jackeylove's Snake-Woman dominated the bottom lane which enabled a quadruple-kill in a group attack and ensured the team to keep their advantage in moving from the dragon pit to the highland, where they moved to their first match point after the collapse of the rival's main inhibitor.

Despite their defeats while confronting with TOP in the previous tournament, IG eventually regained dominant pace of the game as they overwhelmed TOP at the top and bottom lanes and constrained their rival's growing competitiveness by controlling the visions and resources of the jungles in the fourth round.

The decisive moment came at the 22nd minute when IG bombarded TOP with another quadruple-kill at the middle lane and blitzed the dragon pit before marching to the highland.

They ended the game at the 27th minute tasting sweet revenge.
