Chinese Vice Premier Sun Chunlan inspected the 2022 Winter Olympics competition zone in Chongli, Hebei province from Feb. 17 to 18.

The competition area is situated 200 kilometers northwest of Beijing and will stage most of the skiing events of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

During the inspection, Sun observed the construction of venues and supporting facilities there, listened to a report of current preparations, inspected the training of national ski teams, and talked with the athletes.

"It is one of China's priorities to organize the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics successfully," Sun said. "I hope everyone can carry forward a positive sporting spirit and the Olympic spirit, and work hard towards the target." The vice premier also encouraged people to conduct solid preparations for Beijing 2022 and seek for new breakthroughs.

Everyone needs to try hard to improve competition skills, aim for better results, and display outstanding morals, she said.

Sun also stressed the need to make preparations for standard-compliant organization and services, and vigorously and effectively promote the construction of venues and supporting facilities.

She called on relevant government departments to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by Beijing 2022 to promote ice and snow sports among the public, improve sport fitness facilities, and push forward the coordinated development of mass sports, competitive sports, and the wider sports industry.
