Virginia wins first NCAA title in OT thriller

The Virginia Cavaliers won their first NCAA title fending off Texas Tech in an 85-77 overtime victory at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Monday.
"These young men deserve this championship. I'm so happy," Virginia coach Tony Bennett said.
Kyle Guy, who was named the Most Outstanding Player in the Final Four, scored 24 points for Virginia. But his teammate De'Andre Hunter was the key factor for their maiden championships in the school's history.
Scoring game-high 27 points, Hunter's three-pointer with 12.9 seconds left tied the game 68-68, and the missed shot by Texas' Jarrett Culver saw the game into the first overtime since 2008.
Hunter nailed two freethrows followed by a 11-0 sprint by the Cavaliers, which were enough for a redemption after becoming the first No. 1 seed to lose to a 16 last season.
Guy and Hunter were part of the All-Tournament team with teammate Ty Jerome. Texas Tech's Matt Mooney and Culver, with 15 points and 9 rebounds were also included.
