Guangdong sweeps Shenzhen to reach CBA finals

Yi Jianlian's game high 37 points and 17 rebounds helped eight-time winner Guangdong ease past Shenzhen 135-117, winning the best-of-seven CBA semifinals 4-0.

"Both teams have done very well in semifinals. Shenzhen is a tough team, I will give my gratitude to Shenzhen and I believe our team will be benefit from our opponent." Guangdong's coach Du Feng said.

Marshon Brooks had 23 points and Ren Junfei scored 21 points for Guangdong, while Kenny Boynton had 28 points for Shenzhen.

Shenzhen once again had to face the must-win occasion in Game 4. The team was hoping to repeat the miracle in the quarterfinals: came back from 2-0 down to win over Beijing 3-2.

The home side make a good start to lead 14-8 with a 7-0 spurt in the beginning of the first quarter. But Yi and Zhou Peng stood out to combine 24 points and Guangdong took the lead 30-27 by the end of the quarter.

With Yi dominating the paint in the second quarter, Guangdong kept their advantage to enter the half-time break 65-57.

Brooks led a 3-pointer brigade for Guangdong as the visiting team increased their advantage and led 108-86 by the end of the third quarter, killing the game.

"I feel proud of my players who could make so far," Shenzhen's coach Wang Jianjun said.

"It was not easy for us because several players had suffered serious injuries." He added.

Guangdong has to wait for their opponents in the finals as Xinjiang leads Liaoning 2-1 in the other semifinals.
