Superstar Kevin Durant scored 50 points to help the Golden State Warriors defeat the LA Clippers 129-110 in Game 6 of their playoff first round series on Friday and reach the West Conference semifinals with a total score of 4-2.

The Clippers opened the game with an 18-8 run, but Durant scored 38 of his playoff career-high 50 points in the first half to give his team a 72-53 lead at halftime. The Clippers tried to narrow the cushion in the second half but their efforts fell short.

Stephen Curry added 24 points for Golden State and Draymond Green had 16 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists for his fifth career playoff triple-double. Forward Andre Iguodala came off the bench to score 15 points.

Forward Danilo Gallinari led the Clippers with 29 points and rookie Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 22. Guard Lou Williams and forward Montrezl Harrell combined to have 57 points on 23-for-33 shooting in Game 5, but they were limited to just eight and 10 points apiece in Game 6.

This is the first time in Steve Kerr's five seasons as Warriors coach that his team - winner of three of the last four NBA titles - has been pushed past five games in the opening round.

The Warriors will in the semifinals take up an even more dangerous opponent, the Houston Rockets whom they beat in last year's conference finals en route to winning their second straight title. In regular season, Houston won three out of four meetings against the Warriors.
