Francisco Rodriguez has confirmed that he will be leaving his post as coach of Sociedad Deportivo Huesca at the end of the current season.

Rodriguez arrived at the club in October with Huesca bottom of the table in their first ever season in La Liga, and although he has been unable to save them from relegation, his arrival saw a big improvement in results and performances at the club with the lowest budget in Spain's top flight.

"It is a purely professional decision, because if it were for emotion, I would have signed a contract here for many years," Rodriguez said. "I had to look at a lot of circumstances and what my head was telling me and I believe that it is the best for the club and for me to continue growing."

"I took the decision thinking about my progress as coach and about Huesca's progression in the future. We didn't achieve the objective we set ourselves and that is why I have decided to leave," continued the 40-year-old, who emphasized that he and his team had worked "24 hours a day for eight months."

Huesca end their season with a home game against Leganes on Saturday evening.
