Playing without injured star Kevin Durant, the Golden State Warriors destroyed the Portland Trail Blazers 116-94 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals on home court on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry made nine 3-pointers and scored 36 points while Klay Thompson had 26 points for the host team. Forward Draymond Green finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.

Portland duo of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum met with strong defense from Golden State, scoring 19 and 17 points apiece.

Game 2 will be held on Thursday, and Durant, the two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP, will be likely to miss once again due to a strained right calf. He injured his calf in Game 5 of the semifinals against the Houston Rockets.

The Warriors swept the Trail Blazers in the playoffs first round two years ago. Golden State, the two-time defending champions, are seeking a fifth straight trip to the NBA Finals.
