The building project for the non-competition zone of the National Alpine Ski Center in Beijing's Yanqing district has finished the underground foundation work and started the above-ground construction, according to the Beijing Urban Construction Group.

As an important facility for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the non-competition zone of the National Alpine Ski Center will be a three-level steel-structured building, covering an area of 5,739 square meters. It will include the main switchboard room, the parking area, and a cable car terminus.

Yan Dong, a senior engineer in charge of the National Alpine Ski Center project, said that transporting all the materials for building the structure is the biggest challenges.

As a solution, the project group built cable conveyors across the mountains to transport all the steel structures and materials to the site.

Project manager Zhang Jie said his team is making every effort to ensure the project can be delivered on time with good quality.
