AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa makes an address during the AFC Extraordinary Congress in Paris, France, June 4, 2019. China was confirmed as the host of the AFC Asian Cup 2023.

The hard work on delivering the AFC Asian Cup China 2023 begins with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) and the AFC Administration beginning the task of identifying host cities.

The CFA and AFC will also work on the complex but vitally important tournament schedule as well in the weeks ahead.

On Wednesday the AFC announced: "Following the confirmation of China PR as the host of the AFC Asian Cup 2023, the AFC will now begin work with the Chinese Football Association (CFA) to identify the tournament host cities and prepare the match schedule."

"And tomorrow the Asian Qualifiers begin which will not only deliver the Asian teams for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 but also the successful teams for the AFC Asian Cup China 2023."

The AFC President Shaikh Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has already stated that the selection of China PR as the AFC Asian Cup hosts was not only important for Asian football but also for the global game.

"We now have the opportunity to unlock the massive potential which exists in China," said the AFC President.
