Premier League side West Ham United on Wednesday confirmed the signing of French striker Sebastian Haller for a club record fee of 45 million pounds from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.

The 25-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the London club, with the possible option of a further year.

"I think it's a really good opportunity for me to be here," said Haller, who scored 15 league goals last season, in addition to five more in the Europa League.

"It means a lot to be the record signing; it proves that the club really wanted me for a long time. I felt this desire to sign me and I'm really happy to sign, also. It is an ambitious club, a nice club, a nice city and nice fans too."

"I can guarantee that I will give 100 percent for the club because the club has given me this confidence and I will try to give it back every day in every game," he said.

Haller began his career in the youth system of French side Auxerre before joining Dutch club FC Utrecht and then moving to Frankfurt.

West Ham, who finished tenth in last season's Premier League, are currently in China competing in the pre-season Premier League Asia Trophy.
