The United States set a new world record of three minutes and 19.40 seconds in the mixed 4x100m freestyle relay final at the 18th FINA World Championships in Gwangju on Saturday.

It beat the previous record of 3:19.60 set by the United States in Budapest two years ago.

With the gold medal, the United States won all of the three world titles since the event was first contested in 2015.

The U.S. quartet was followed by Australia in 3:19.97 and France in 3:22.11 for the silver and bronze medals respectively.
