Italy wins gold in men's water polo at FINA Worlds

Italy won the gold medal in the men's water polo, grabbing its first world title in eight years at the 18th FINA World Championships here on Saturday.

Italy defeated Spain 10-5 in the gold medal match for its first world title since 2011.

In the semifinals on Thursday, Italy eliminated Hungary, the silver medalist in Budapest two years ago, while Spain knocked off the defending champion Croatia 6-5.

Earlier, Croatia beat Hungary 10-7 to pocket the bronze medal.
