Paris Saint-Germain Tuesday announced the signing of midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Everton with a four-year deal until June 30, 2023.

The 29-year-old Gueye became the eighth Senegalese player in PSG's history.

"I'm immensely proud to sign for Paris Saint-Germain," said Gueye after signing his contract.

Gueye, reaching the final at recent African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with his national team, made a return to France after leaving Lille, where he played from 2010 to 2015.

The Senegalese international then joined Premier League outfit Aston Villa and later Everton, where he played 108 matches over the past three seasons.

Since 2011, Gueye has won 69 caps, scoring four goals for Senegal.

"After focussing on the AFCON with Senegal, I wanted to give a new boost to my club career by joining Paris Saint-Germain, one of the most structured and ambitious sports projects in Europe," Gueye pointed out.

PSG did not disclose the amount of Gueye's transfer fee, which was reportedly over 30 million euros.

"I can't wait to take in the amazing atmosphere of the Parc des Princes, which impressed me during my first seasons in France," added Gueye, seen in a photo holding a No. 27 PSG jersey.
