Canadian Bianca Andreescu beat American Sofia Kenin to enter the WTA Toronto final after making her the nation's heroine to reach the Rogers Cup semifinals within a half century.
The 19-year-old player defeated Sofia Kenin 6-4, 7-6 (5) in Saturday's match, ending Canada's long wait with the WTA Toronto final place.
Earlier this year, in the WTA Acapulco semifinal, Andreescu lost to her opponent Kennin, yet followed by her successful finish to frustrate the American at Miami. And this time she continued her momentum to reach the final.
The home-nation heroine will take on Serena Williams on Sunday to vie for the title after the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion completed an impressive turnaround win against Czech qualifier Marie Bouzkova 1-6, 6-3, 6-3.
