Japan beat Australia to reach quarters at Asian Women's V-ball Championship

Japan finished atop Pool B and secured a place in the quarterfinals of the Asian Women's Volleyball Championship by defeating Australia 3-0 on Tuesday.

The defending champions, though dominated by young players, swept the court and kept up their winning streak at the tournament with a 25-11, 25-21, 25-8 victory over Australia.

After three days of fierce competition, hosts South Korea and Iran from Pool A, Japan and Kazakhstan from Pool B, Thailand and Chinese Taipei from Pool C, and China and Indonesia from Pool D qualified for the quarterfinals which starts on Thursday.

The quarterfinals will be divided into Pools E and F, with the top two teams from Pools A and C to be grouped in Pool E, and the top two seeds from Pools B and D to be paired in Pool F.

Teams will carry their first round record into Pools E and F actions.

China, in Pool F, will face Kazakhstan on Thursday and Japan on Friday.
