Chinese player Peng Shuai logged a 6-4, 7-6 (5) win over her compatriot Zhu Lin to advance into the semifinals at the Jiangxi Open on Friday at the Nanchang International Sports Center.
Zhu lost the first set due to consecutive double-faults. Peng stayed aggressive in the second set, but did not score an easy win.
On the other court, it took Serbia's Stojanovic almost 3 hours to secure a hard-fought victory over her opponent, Ukraine's seventh-seeded Kozlova.
Also on Friday, Sweden's fifth seed Rebecca Peterson upset Polish third seed Magda Linette to move into the singles semifinals at the tournament.
