Inter beat Lazio to stay perfect atop Serie A

Inter Milan beat Lazio 1-0 on Wednesday to maintain their five-game winning perfect record into the season at the Italian Serie A.

The Nerazzurri retained the top spot after reigning champions Juventus went ahead on 13 points thanks to a 2-1 win at Brescia on Tuesday.

Danilo D'Ambrosio gave Inter a 23rd-minute lead and Samir Handanovic made a tough save on an equalizing attempt from Joaquin Correa, who then missed from close-range before Bastos was also denied.

The Argentinian Correa came close again early in the second half before his goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha saved two close attempts by Nicolo Barella and Matteo Politano.

Napoli suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Cagliari, despite massive pressure by the home side, they were stunned from a late Lucas Castro header.

Earlier in Rome, Atalanta substitute Duvan Zapata and Marten de Roon struck for a 2-0 defeat of Roma that pushed the third-place Bergamo side on 10 points. The Romans stayed on eight points from five games.

Parma had two goals disallowed by video assistant referee (VAR) and a penalty saved but won 1-0 as Sassuolo substitute Mehdi Bourabia scored an own goal in stoppage time.

Bologna also missed a penalty in their scoreless draw at Genoa.

Fiorentina won 2-1 against 10-man Sampdoria, who had Jeison Murillo sent off after La Viola's first goal and promoted Lecce won 3-1 at SPAL.

Torino and AC Milan will meet on Thursday. Verona and Udinese drew 0-0 Tuesday.
