Real Madrid winger Eden Hazard is likely to be out of action for at least the coming weekend and probably longer after limping out of Tuesday's 2-2 Champions League draw at home to Paris Saint-Germain.

Although Madrid have now ensured their place in the last 16 of the competition, qualification came at a price as Hazard had to be helped to the dressing room after twisting his right ankle.

Hazard broke that ankle in 2017 and had a metal plate inserted into it, and following Tuesday's game Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane admitted he was worried about the player, saying the injury was "more than a knock, it was a knock and a twist."

Early tests appear to have ruled out any further damage to Hazard's ankle, but the injury looks like a serious twist and further tests are needed to rule out ligament damage.

The injury comes just as the Belgium winger was beginning to show the form which saw Madrid play Chelsea around 100 million euros for his services this summer. Hazard looked very sharp on Tuesday night, playing a big part in Karim Benzema's opening goal with a run which took him past three opponents at the start of the move.

Real Madrid play FC Barcelona in the Camp Nou stadium on December 18 and the club will be desperate to have Hazard available for arguably the biggest game so far this season.
