Defending champions Guangdong beat Beijing, Xinjiang rout Fujian

Defending champions Guangdong Southeast Tigers notched a 93-78 away win over three-time league winners Beijing Ducks in a high-profile game on Sunday to snap Beijing's five-game unbeaten run at home into the season, while Xinjiang Flying Tigers routed Fujian Sturgeons 134-91 in the 12th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

Guangdong claimed an easy lead at 29-17 in the first quarter as Beijing committed nine turnovers, but Beijing embarked on a run of 12-4 in the second powered by Jeremy Lin's three-pointers in a row to open up a 50-48 advantage before halftime.

Beijing opened the second half with an 11-2 run but Guangdong fought back hard in the middle of third and entered the last period with a 70-64 lead. Yi Jianlian led Guangdong to initiate a 9-3 run to turn the table 86-75 with three minutes remaining. With their shooters failing several times from downtown at the end of the fourth quarter, Beijing lost its chance to close the gap.

Marshon Brooks had a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds for Guangdong, who won their eighth straight game, Yi Jianlian contributed a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds, Hu Mingxuan added 11 points. Despite his team's defeat, Lin scored 26 points and 10 rebounds for Beijing.

With five players scoring double digits, Xinjiang defeated Fujian 134-91. after a 74-56 lead into the halftime, Xinjiang made 36-16 in the third quarter and killed the game.

Zhou Qi scored a game-high 27 points and 18 rebounds while Jarnell Stokes contributed 22 points 11 rebounds, Kay Felder added 17 points. Former NBA player Amar'e Stoudemire scored 19 points for Fujian.

In Shenyang, Lance Stephenson finished with 23 points, six assists and four rebounds and Brandon Bass added 23 points, after shooting 8 of 10 from the field, and 7 of 7 on free throws, to help Liaoning Flying Leopards beat Tianjin Pioneers 123-109.

In Sunday's other games, Shanxi Loongs outlasted Jiangsu Dragons 121-113, Zhejiang Golden Bulls edged Jilin Northeast Tigers 127-112, Beijing Royal Fighters rallied to beat Sichuan Blue Whale 103-97.
