Carlos Tevez said he hopes to retire at Boca Juniors, ruling out a move away from his boyhood club in the twilight of his career.

The 35-year-old is contracted with Boca until the end of the month but he has openly stated a desire to continue in 2020.

"Right now my life is Boca. These last few years that I have left, or the last one I have left, I'm going to put all of my focus on Boca. It may be my last year as a player," the former Argentina international told reporters.

"There is nothing else that motivates me. If Real Madrid came for me, I'd tell them that I want to stay at Boca."

Tevez has struggled for regular playing time since leaving Shanghai Shenhua for his third spell at Boca two years ago.

The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus player has netted three times in 10 league appearances this season, most of which have been as a substitute.

"I want to keep playing for as long as possible," he said when asked how long he could continue.

Tevez lavished praise on his former national teammate Lionel Messi, who won his sixth Ballon d'Or award during the week.

He said the Barcelona forward has reached a level that not even his great rival Cristiano Ronaldo can get close to.

"Messi is a natural. He doesn't need to go to the gym for an hour before training to be able to dribble past somebody," Tevez said. "Cristiano learned to get the best out of himself through hard work."
