Chen Linjian scored a game-high 36 points as Fujian Sturgeons thrashed the visiting Shanghai Sharks 124-90 in the 2019/20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Friday, ending their six-game losing streak.

With legendary Serbian coach Aleksandar Kesar appointed on Friday to replace Zhu Shilong, Fujian delivered a strong performance, notching their biggest ever win over the Sharks.

"I only had one training session with my players. I am proud of their performance. They executed the game plan well and showed our determination," noted Kesar.

Chen hit eight 3-pointers out of 12 attempts for the home team, while Ty Lawson contributed 34 points and six assists. Amar'e Stoudemire came off the bench for a double-double of 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Sharks kept a low 40 percent shooting percentage throughout the game. Ray McCallum scored a team-high 31 points, while Donatas Motiejunas added 11 points and 16 rebounds.

Fujian opened fire beyond the arc in the first quarter to lead 32-12, before the home team extended their advantage to 64-35 at the half-time break. The second half saw little challenge from the visitors as Fujian easily sealed their third win of the season with a 34-point advantage.

"It's the first victory for me, which is important. We will move forward step by step," Kesar added.

Their long-awaited victory takes Fujian up to 17th place in the table. The Sturgeons will take on Beijing Royal Fighters at home next Monday. Enditem
