With the United Arab Emirates and Jordan progressing from Group D on Thursday, the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 quarter-finals lineup has now been confirmed.

The successful duo will join Australia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Korea Republic and Uzbekistan in the last eight with a place in the competition's semi-finals – as well the potential of moving a step nearer to sealing a place at this year's Olympics – at stake.

Saudi Arabia vs Thailand

Saudi Arabia guaranteed their ticket through to the knockout phase thanks to Feras Al Birakan's excellent 80th minute strike for a 1-0 win over Syria on Matchday Three. The Saudis finished top of Group B after recording two victories and a draw en route to their showdown with the host nation.

After beating Bahrain 5-0 on Matchday One, Thailand had to wait until their final group stage match before securing second place in Group A and a spot in the next round, Jaroensak Wonggorn scoring his third goal of the tournament in a 1-1 draw with Iraq to send his side through.

Australia vs Syria

A win and two draws proved enough for Australia to advance as Group A winners. Having been forced to settle for a draw against Iraq on Matchday One, Graham Arnold's charges bounced back with an impressive win over Thailand next time out. A 1-1 draw with Bahrain sealed their progress.

A win and a draw helped Syria amass four points en route to finishing second in Group B. The West Asians began their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Qatar, before shining brightly in a 2-1 win over Japan. They duly advanced despite losing to Saudi Arabia on Matchday Three.

Korea Republic vs Jordan

Korea Republic qualified for the quarter-finals as the only team to have won all three of their group stage games. The Group C winners opened their account with a dramatic 1-0 win over China PR, before recording successive 2-1 victories against the Islamic Republic of Iran and then Uzbekistan.

Jordan reached the quarter-finals thanks to Ihab Ali Al's second-half equaliser in a 1-1 draw with the United Arab Emirates on Matchday Three. The result saw them finish second in Group D following a 2-1 success against DPR Korea in their opening game and a draw with Vietnam.

United Arab Emirates vs Uzbekistan

United Arab Emirates reached the last eight after finishing top of the Group D standings despite being held to a 1-1 draw by second-placed Jordan on Matchday Three. Prior to that result, Maciej Skorza's side had drawn 0-0 with 2018 runners-up Vietnam and beaten DPR Korea 2-0.

After recording a draw and a win, Group C runners-up Uzbekistan also sealed their place in the last eight on Matchday Three when, despite losing to Korea Republic, they advanced on goal difference after nearest rivals Islamic Republic of Iran could only beat China PR 1-0 in the group's other game.
