The Moroccan Football Federation announced on Mar. 14 the suspension of all football matches, until further notice.

Since March 4, all football matches of all competitions and categories in Morocco have been played behind closed doors, amid growing fears of a spread of COVID-19 in the North African country.

Morocco expanded its regulations on Saturday to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic by ordering a ban of mass gatherings, including weddings and Friday prayers.

All cultural, artistic, and sporting events were also suspended.

To date, Morocco confirmed eight cases of COVID-19, including an elderly Moroccan woman who arrived from Italy and died from the infection.

A Moroccan national from Italy, who was the first confirmed case of the COVID-19, is reported to be cured.
