Manchester United have reached agreement with China's Super League club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua to extend the loan deal for Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo to January 31, 2021, the Premier League side announced on Monday.

Ighalo, 30, joined the Red Devils on loan this January and his stay was initially due to end on May 31. He scored four goals in eight appearances for Manchester United before the football games in England as well as Europe were suspended in March due to coronavirus outbreak.

Last Tuesday, Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that they were in dialogue with Shanghai Shenhai for extending Ighalo's deal

"It's been a dream for him and hopefully he can finish off what he started, hopefully with a trophy for us," said Solskjaer.

The top-flight football league in England have set June 17 as the provisional date of resuming the season before the FA agreed the FA Cup quarterfinals will provisionally restart on June 27 with the final scheduled to play on August 1.

Manchester United are fifth in the Premier League with Liverpool leading the table dominantly, but the Red Devils still have a chance to win the FA Cup this season as they will face Norwich City in the quarterfinals.
