The young Tianjin Pioneers team is ready for the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league to resume on June 20 after a long period of behind-closed-door training.

According to coach Liu Tie, the team had been training since January this year, with only a brief 10-day holiday during the Chinese New Year.

"The team members were very devoted during the training. At present, everyone is in a good state and looks forward to testing the training results in the game," Liu said.

Tianjin Pioneers may have to depend solely on its domestic players in the coming games, with its foreign players unable to return. Coach Liu said that the team was currently looking for ways to attract other international players, but the domestic talents are ready for the challenge in the meantime.

Before the league was suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Tianjin Pioneers ranked second from the bottom with only six wins from 30 games.

"We will strive to enter the playoffs next season," the coach said.
