Chelsea has reached an agreement with RB Leipzig to sign German international Timo Werner, announced the Premier League club on Thursday.

The 24-year-old forward has agreed personal terms with the Blues, but will remain at the German club for the rest of the Bundesliga season. He is expected to join Chelsea's squad in July, subject to passing a medical examination.

"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a very proud moment for me to be joining this great club," said Werner, who also thanked RB Leipzig and the fans "for four fantastic years".

Werner, moving from Stuttgart to RB Leipzig in 2016, is currently enjoying the most profitable season of his career with 32 goals so far in all competitions.

"I look forward to next season with my new teammates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans. Together we have a very successful future ahead of us," said the striker.

According to British media, Werner has agreed to a five-year contract with Chelsea.

Chelsea sits fourth in the Premier League with nine games remaining.
