Iran coach Dragan Skocic said that Iran will have a difficult task to advance to the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals, Tehran Times daily reported on Tuesday.

"I know that the work ahead of us will be difficult, but our goal is clear. I am sure we have the potential to book a place at the 2022 World Cup. We want to make the Iranian people happy," Skocic was quoted as saying.

The Croatian came back to Tehran on Sunday after the pandemic lockdown was eased.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers scheduled for April have been postponed to November, but the Iranian Premier League will start next week and Skocic will monitor the competitions.

Iran will likely meet Hong Kong, China in Tehran's Azadi Stadium on October 8, and will play Cambodia five days later at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh.
