Thanks to the 28 points and 17 rebounds from Arnett Moultrie on Thursday, the Beijing Royal Fighters moved past the Jiangsu Dragons 104-95, getting their second straight victory to move back into the top eight of the 2019-20 CBA standings.

As the lowest-ranked team in the last season of the 20-team league, the Royal Fighters had a great improvement under the coaching of Stephon Marbury, who had played for the team as a player. The Beijing side had already collected 21 wins, sitting on the seventh place on the current standings.

"It's a tough game today," said Royal Fighters head coach Stephon Marbury. "Jiangsu is a very good team and very well-coached."

"I'm happy for Arnett. He came out to play well and play hard," Marbury added.

Royal Fighters guard Kyle Fogg got 21 points and nine assists. Wang Zirui and Zong Zan added 16 and 19 points respectively.

This season's strong title contender, the Xinjiang Flying Tigers, avoided straight losses by taking down the Qingdao Eagles 95-90.

Xinjiang lost to the Beijing Ducks in the previous round, and the 76 points they got in that game broke the lowest-scoring record in the team's CBA history.

Against Qingdao, Xinjiang played a quite close game, leveling 47-47 by the end of the first half. Trailing by six point at the beginning of the fourth period, Xinjiang played patiently and took back the lead. The three-pointers from Tang Caiyu and center Zhou Qi turned the table and awarded Xinjiang a precious victory.

Tang Caiyu and Yu Changdong scored 17 points respectively for Xinjiang, Zhou Qi collected 16 points and 13 rebounds, and Zeng Lingxu contributed 15 points and eight assists.

In other games on Thursday, the Nanjing Monkey Kings edged the Guangzhou Loong Lions 105-103, the Fujian Sturgeons beat the Shandong Heroes 93-84, and the Shenzhen Aviators defeated the Jilin Northeast Tigers 102-94.
