The Nanjing Monkey Kings edged the Bayi Rockets 97-95 on a last-second layup in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) 2019-20 season here on Sunday.

Li Hongpeng made the layup, his only points of the game, with 0.4 seconds left to give Nanjing their fourth straight victory. Joseph Young scored a game-high 49 points while Hamed Haddadi had 12 points and 18 rebounds, including an assist to Li for the winner.

Bayi, who suffered their 15th consecutive loss, blew a six-point lead with 48 seconds remaining. Zou Yuchen scored 26 points and 13 rebounds, while Lei Meng contributed 27 points and 4 steals.

Bayi opened the game with a 21-11 lead before Nanjing went on a 14-0 run to take the lead after first quarter. Lei Meng scored 11 points in the second quarter to help Bayi regain the lead 48-43 at halftime.

The second half saw a reversal of fortunes for the two teams. It seemed that Bayi was going to win with a 93-87 lead in the last minute, but Young hit a three-pointer, on six straight points, keeping Nanjing within striking distance to set up the dramatic finish.
