Beijing Ducks center Zhu Yanxi notched six three-pointers, helping his team smash the Jilin Northeast Tigers 91-64 in the 2019-20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season on Friday.

With high shooting accuracy, Zhu grabbed 18 points for Beijing, while teammate Ekpe Udoh pocketed a game-high 23 points and 17 rebounds.

"We have resumed our energy after the seven-day break. We watched videos of Jilin's games and analyzed their characteristics. I think our players well carried out our tactics," said Beijing head coach Xie Libin.

Beijing established a 12-8 advantage in the seventh minute thanks to Zhu Yanxi's three-pointer at the corner. The team's strong defense against Jilin international player Sean Hill allowed him zero points in the first quarter and kept their lead going until Udoh's scoring under the basket ended the quarter at 24-15.

The gap was once narrowed to 34-27 in the middle of the second quarter when Jilin's Jiang Zewei made a long-distance jump throw. Beijing dominated the game in response, and Jilin failed in several turns of attack. Jeremy Lin played a major role in assists, helping his teammate Zhu hit another three-pointer to lock the score at 46-29 before the interval.

The margin only got larger in the second half. At the beginning of the final quarter, an easy throw from Udoh put Beijing's edge at 30 points. Both sides regarded the last five minutes as an opportunity for substitutes to practice, as Jilin had no hopes to win.

"We did not play well today for we did not find the correct rhythm of attack and defense. We are too impatient, giving our opponents many opportunities. We also lacked communication and were too sensitive about defense," said Jilin head coach Wang Han.

Beijing gained their playoff spot with the victory, while Jilin will face the Zhejiang Golden Bulls on Sunday.
