Former NBA player O. J. Mayo scored a game-high 37 points, helping the Liaoning Flying Leopards beat the Jilin Northeast Tigers 125-118 here on Wednesday in the 2019-20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season.

Liaoning mastered the game by making five 3-pointers in the first quarter. Liu Zhixuan's long-range shot helped Liaoning to take a 35-26 lead in the quarter, and held a 70-56 advantage before the second half.

Jilin narrowed the gap to single digit in the fourth quarter but Guo Ailun's three-point play helped Liaoning keep their edge and won the game.

Despite the victory, Guo was not satisfied with his performance. "We lost some concentration in the second half," he said.

Guo scored 28 points with nine assists in 38 minutes, while Han Dejun collected a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds for Liaoning.

Five players scored in double digits for Jilin. Jiang Yuxing contributed 27 points, Sean Hill had 26, and Zhong Cheng finished with 18.

"I was satisfied with our performance in the second half, but we weren't good enough defensively in the first half," said Jilin's coach Wang Han.

Jilin who suffered a fourth straight loss, will fight against the Nanjing Monkey Kings on Friday night when Liaoning will play the Fujian Sturgeons.
