Jiangsu Suning defeated Dalian Pro 2-1 in the third round of the 2020 Chinese Super League here on Tuesday, with all three goals coming within a ten-minute spell near the end of the game.
Although Jiangsu dominated the possession, Dalian came close to scoring in the 19th minute as midfielder Marek Hamsik's free-kick cannoned off the crossbar. 11 minutes later, Sam Larsson's long drive was well saved by Jiangsu keeper Gu Chao.
Jiangsu midfielder Alex Teixeira thought he had put his side ahead just before the break, but the goal was disallowed after VAR judged Eder Martins to have been offside.
Suning broke the deadlock in the 73rd minute when Teixeira headed home from Ji Xiang's right-wing cross. But Salomon Rondon leveled things up for Dalian with a similarly powerful header just four minutes later.
Wang Yaopeng's foul in the 81st minute then gifted Jiangsu a penalty, and Eder Martins made no mistake from the spot to slot home the winning goal.
