Defending Brazilian Serie A champions Flamengo crashed to their second straight defeat under new head coach Domenec Torrent on Wednesday, succumbing 3-0 to Atletico Goianiense.

The Rio de Janeiro giants, who are also the reigning Copa Libertadores champions, were unrecognizable as Hyuri Oliveira, Jorginho Moura and Gustavo Ferrareis scored for the hosts.

Flamengo's night went from bad to worse when goalkeeper Diego Alves was shown a straight red card for violent conduct seven minutes from time.

The result left Atletico third in the 20-team Serie A standings while Flamengo, who lost 1-0 to Atletico Mineiro in their season opener on Sunday, dropped to last place.

Torrent, a former assistant coach to Pep Guardiola, was named Flamengo manager last month after the departure of Jorge Jesus.

In other matches on Wednesday, Botafogo drew 1-1 at Bragantino, Athletico Paranaense won 2-1 at home to Goias, Atletico Mineiro beat Corinthians 3-2 and Bahia overcame Coritiba 1-0.
