Defending champion Shanghai started the second stage of 2019-20 Chinese men's volleyball league with a comeback win by beating Sichuan 3-1 in Group E on Sunday.
After the league concluded the first stage on Saturday, the top eight teams will continue to play in a round robin format in two groups for the second stage with the top two finishers from each pool moving on to the semifinals, while the other teams will compete for 9th to 13th places.
Sichuan took a shock lead after the first set, but it was not enough as Shanghai fought back for a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-18, 25-19, 25-16).
Wing spiker Dai Qingyao contributed a game high 17 points including 12 spikes, two blocks and three serves with Zhang Zhejia adding 14 for Shanghai.
In another match in Group E, veteran Cui Jianjun was decisive in Henan's 3-2 victory over Jiangsu, as the 35-year-old pocketed 25 points with 20 spikes.
Elsewhere in Group F, Shangdong opened its second stage with a straight-set victory over Beijing, while Zhejiang defeated Fujian 3-1.
