Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has signed a new three-year contract with Arsenal, the English Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.

Aubameyang, 31, joined the Gunners from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in 2018 and has since made 111 appearances and scored 72 goals.

The Arsenal captain scored a brace in last season's FA Cup final as Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1. He also netted in Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Fulham last Saturday in their first game of the new Premier League season.

"Signing for this special club was never in doubt," Aubameyang told the club's website. "I believe in Arsenal. We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal."

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described Aubameyang as "a superb player with an incredible mentality."

"He's an important leader for the team and a big part of what we're building. He wants to be up there with the best players in the world and leave his mark. He can achieve that here," said Arteta.

Arsenal will host West Ham United in their second match of the 2020/21 Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners only finished eighth in the Premier League last season, but their FA Cup win secured them a place in the UEFA Europa League for the 2020-21 campaign.
