Shandong Heroes beat the Beijing Royal Fighters 99-83 on Monday, making a good start in their first regular-season game of the 2021-21 Chinese Basketball Association league (CBA).

Eager to win the first victory of the new season, both teams showcased great aggressiveness at the very beginning, with Shandong scoring first but Beijing taking a lead by one point in the first quater.

The second quater saw more fierce fight-backs from Shandong, who outscored their opponents 17 points by the end of the first half.

Beijing tried hard to equalize, but it was difficult for them to even narrow the gap, since Manny Harris, the American guard took the field in the second half, scoring 21 points for Shandong as the MVP of his team. Gao Shiyan contributed a great deal in the victory for Shandong, with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.

Beijing's Wang Shaojie also won 21 points with five rebounds and two steals, to take the MVP title of the game.
