Carlos Tevez struck a first-half brace as six-time champions Boca Juniors routed Caracas FC 3-0 in their last Copa Libertadores Group H match on Thursday.

Lisandro Lopez put the hosts ahead with a 27th minute header and Tevez doubled the lead six minutes later by sliding home from close range after Frank Fabra's cross.

Tevez made it 3-0 on the stroke of halftime, rifling a shot into to the bottom right corner after a driving run.

The result at La Bombonera meant the Argentinian outfit finished top of the group with four wins and two draws from their six matches.

Caracas ended in third place, behind Libertad on goal difference, despite the Paraguayan side's 4-2 home defeat to Independiente Medellin earlier.

Elsewhere, Gremio clinched top spot in Group E after a late Diego Souza penalty earned the Brazilian side a 1-1 home draw with Colombia's America de Cali.

Gremio's Porto Alegre rivals Internacional also advanced to the knockout phase despite a 2-1 defeat to Universidad Catolica in Chile.
