Shandong Luneng climbed out of an early hole as it shared the spoils with Hebei China Fortune at 2-2 in the Chinese Super League on Monday.

The sides will have two meetings in the classification of 5th-8th places as Luneng was eliminated by Beijing Guoan in the quarterfinal and Hebei was crushed by Guangzhou Evergrande. The winner will go further for the race of 5th to 6th places and the loser will to vie for the 7th-8th places.

Hebei was dealt a blow in the opening minutes as hitman Marcao limped off with injury, making way for Paulinho.

However, it was Hebei that broke the deadlock in the 15th minute as Gao Late's smart pass sliced Luneng's defense apart, and Mohamed Turay rounded goalkeeper Wang Dalei before placing a daisy-cutter.

Ding Haifeng doubled the lead for Hebei through a spot-kick in the 28th minute after Turay was chased down by Wang in the box.

Luneng pulled one goal back before the break as Roger Guedes earned a penalty and converted it himself.

Guedes bagged a brace in the 74th minute as he kept his cool to pocket his second penalty.

Luneng had scored the last-gasp winner in the dying minutes but Marouane Fellaini's header was ruled out as the Belgian had fouled in the buildup.

The second leg between the two teams is set for October 31.
