A late goal from substitute Alejandro Romero earned Paraguay a 2-2 draw with Bolivia in their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Tuesday.

Angel Romero put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot in the 19th minute after Gustavo Gomez was body-checked by Jose Sagredo.

Marcelo Moreno made it 2-0 by combining with Erwin Saavedra and rifling a superb first-time effort from the edge of the 18-yard box into the bottom left corner.

Boris Cespedes took the lead four minutes later through Boris Cespedes, whose volley rebounded in after goalkeeper Antony Silva tipped the ball against his right post.

Alejandro Romero, who replaced Angel Cardozo just before the hour mark, restored parity in the 72nd minute with a bullet header after Antonio Sanabria's cross from the left flank.
