Beijing's Yanqing district will organize a total of 13 ice and snow events in four themed categories during the upcoming winter season, the district's sports authorities recently announced.

Centering around ice and snow-themed tourism, culture, sports, and skating and skiing training, this year's event will highlight youth involvement and general participation, aiming to encourage mass enjoyment of ice and snow sports.

Yanqing district will be one of the three major competition zones in the upcoming 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, and this year's winter marks the last ice and snow season before the event opens.

Over the past few days, youth skater Han Qijun from Yanqing was seen preparing for this year's competition. During last year's ice and snow season, he participated in the fourth youth speed skating competition and achieved good results.

"There are more and more people who skate competitively and everyone is at a good level. I can't fall behind. I will strive to get better results in this year's competition," Han said.

In addition to planning and hosting professional events, Yanqing's district sports bureau will also organize a series of mass ice and snow activities such as ice and snow hiking and ice fishing for ordinary citizens.
