Beijing snap skid, Fujian bag second win of season

The Beijing Ducks ended its three-game losing streak after beating the Shanxi Loongs 91-84 while Stephon Marbury's Beijing Royal Fighters lost to the Fujian Sturgeons 123-111, its fourth loss in a row in the 2020-21 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Thursday.

Beijing was 67-66 ahead after three quarters. The teams were tied at 70-70 midway through the fourth quarter before Jonathan Gibson led Beijing to an 11-3 run and held on the rest of the way.

Gibson scored 29 points while Fan Ziming had 17 points and 9 rebounds. Fang Shuo added 16 points and 10 assists. Shanxi's Eric Moreland contributed 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Fujian took the lead from the start against the Royal Fighters, grabbed a seven-point advantage before entering the halftime break. The Royal Fighters turned the game around at 100-95 in the fourth quarter, but Huang Yichao hit two consecutive 3-pointers to help Fujian regain the lead and put the game away.

Fujian's Robert Golden scored 31 points to lead five players in double-digit figures, with Wang Zhelin adding 22 points and 17 rebounds.

The Jilin Northeast Tigers narrowly defeated Shanghai Sharks 102-101 as Dominique Jones finished with a game-high 55 points and 14 rebounds.

Jones successfully drew a foul with 1.6 seconds remaining and nailed down the victory for Jilin at the free-throw line. Shanghai's Jimmer Fredette had 37 points and seven assists, but he missed the winning jumper on the buzzer.

In the other games played on Thursday, Darius Adams had 31 points, nine rebounds and seven assists to help the Qingdao Eagles smash the Shenzhen Aviators 118-95. Nanjing Monkey Kings edged the Tianjin Pioneers 102-100.
